Second Reunion!
|
The 588th Combat Engineer Battalion,
the 388th Engineer Regiment (W.W.II), and the 362nd Engineer Company (LE), will be having their Second Reunion on 7 August, 1999 at The War Memorial and Performing Arts Center
401 Van Ness Avenue San Francisco, California 94102

The War Memorial Complex as completed in 1932 consists of the nearly identical pair
of monumental classical structures, the Opera House and Veterans Building. The two
buildings were designed as an identical pair, because neither the opera supporters nor
the Veterans would agree to the other having a more complete, costly or magnificent building.
(Editors note: Can't you just picture the scenarios behind the competition above. I just shake my head and grin.)
The Veteran's Building was built to honor First World War vets, and contains the Herbst Theater and a
thousand-seat lecture hall.
